SSPA section 303(c)(1) provides that the Commissioner may assess applicants
a reasonable fee to cover the costs of administering the prerequisites process.
The fee will be $1000 (in U.S. dollars) per applicant.
Applicants must include the fee payment with their application package.
The application fee is generally non-refundable. However, under certain limited circumstances,
the fee payment may be
refunded or credited to a subsequent application period (see the Federal
Register Notice published by SSA on July 18, 2005 (70 FR 41250, 41252), and our
Refund or Credit for Application Fee web page.
Acceptable forms of fee payment will be by certified check, money order, a check drawn from a
private firm's account, or credit card. Personal checks will not be accepted. Applicants will
pay their fees to CPS Human Resource Services.
AND
Applicants who are not found to be eligible may reapply during the next application phase,
but they will pay the full fee upon reapplying unless SSA has approved a credit of the
application fee to a subsequent application period, as noted above.
