Eligibility Requirements
|
|
Certification candidates must have:
1. Animal Sheltering Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) or Executive Director (ED), or in a management-level position directly reporting to the CEO, the
Chief Operating Officer or Director of Operations or an equivalent position in an animal sheltering
agency/organization. The position held must be not more than two steps removed from the lead staff
position in the agency. For example, an eligible candidate must either report to the CEO, or to a
position that reports to the CEO.
One year of this experience in an animal sheltering agency/organization can be substituted by two
years of management experience as CEO, or in a management-level position directly reporting to the
CEO, the Chief Operating Officer or Director of Operations or an equivalent position (again, not more
than two steps removed from the CEO) at a non-profit or public agency/organization in another field.
2. Management Experience: A minimum of three years of experience managing paid staff in any field
within 10 years of the exam administration date.. If this requirement was met through the position(s)
qualifying to meet requirement number one above, both requirements are considered to be met
simultaneously. If the management-level position(s) meeting requirement number one above did not
involve management of paid staff, candidates may use other position(s) within the past 10 years to fulfill
the requirement of three years experience managing paid staff.
