Chief Administrative Officer, Public Health - Seattle & King County

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a senior leadership position in the Public Health Department, reporting to the department Director/Health Officer. The CAO assures that Public Health's business functions and administrative operations are effectively managed to successfully support the Department's services and goals, consistent with the King County Strategic Plan and the PH Operational Master Plan, as well as aligned with the Washington State PH Standards and national PH Accreditation goals. The CAO oversees Budget/Finance/Payroll, Human Resources, CPRES (Contracts, Procurement, Real Estate Services, and Fleet), Business Standards & Accountability (e.g., HIPAA compliance, information security/privacy, risk management, public disclosure), and works closely with IT.

Chief Health Officer, Southern Nevada Health District

The Southern Nevada Health District Chief Health Officer (CHO) is appointed by and reports directly to the Board of Health. The CHO is responsible for the managerial and scientific oversight of one of the largest local public health organizations in the US, serving more than 1.7 million residents, in addition to safeguarding the public health of more than 37 million visitors to Las Vegas each year. Statute requires that the CHO be a MD and possess a Master’s degree in public health, health care administration or a related field. Ten years of management experience in an administrative position in a local, state or national public health department, organization or agency and the ability to acquire a current license to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Nevada are also required.
