Mendocino County stretches from the rocky northern California coast to the inland valleys of
rolling hills, oak trees, and vineyards. It is part of the famous North Coast wine region. In the
County there are 300 vineyards and 37 wineries.
Recreation along the coast includes tide pool exploring, chartered whale watching, ocean fishing,
scuba diving, and sea kayaking. Inland recreation includes fishing, boating, hunting, swimming,
water-skiing and wine tasting.
Ukiah is the County seat with a population of about 35,000 in the greater area.
Lumber, agriculture, and tourism are the major industries.
