The CPS Seminar Series consists of nine Testing and Assessment Seminars for
entry-level and journey-level HR employees. Classes are limited to 25 participants, for maximized
personal attention. The nine one-day sessions are Assessment Centers, Measures of Training and Experience,
Pass Points - Practical, Defensible, & Job-Related, Job Analysis, Multiple Choice Item Writing,
Test and Item Analysis, Selection Basics: Pass-point Setting and Beyond, Interview Construction and Administration,
and Situational Judgment Tests - Tapping Qualifications and Fit.

HR Academy is tailored to build the skills needed by public sector human resource
professionals. The Academy is offered in conjunction with California State University,
Sacramento so you earn up to 6.0 CSUS College of Continuing Education CEU’s and a CSUS
certificate if you complete all six classes within three years. The classes also qualify for
credits for PHR or SPHR certification. These one-day and two-day classes provide core basics
as well as some specialized education for entry and journey HR employees in the public sector.
The six classes include Fundamentals of HR, Job Analysis, Classification and Compensation, Exam Development
and Administration, Recruitment and Selection Planning, and Employee Relations.

CPS has partnered with the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) to help meet the emergency
preparedness goals for the State of California. State agencies can now attend OES’ SEMS/NIMS/ICS
Combined Course, a one-day course that meets the federal Department of Homeland Security’s NIMS
compliancy standards, and thus allows agencies to remain eligible to receive federal Department
of Homeland Security emergency preparedness grants.
