WHEN YOU PASS THE ORAL EXAMINATION
You will receive a letter, certificate and instructions on how to receive your identification card.
Guard these documents carefully! The certificate cannot be replaced. (It is against the law for
another person to use your documents or identification number. Evidence of fraudulent use of
certification documents or numbers may be referred to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for
investigation and prosecution.) Identification cards require that candidates submit two passport-size,
current photos immediately after receiving test results. Identification cards expire annually on
June 30th, at which time you will be required to meet re-certification requirements and pay an annual
fee (currently $100.00) as mandated by state law. The requirements will be mailed to you in a timely
manner each year to the address of record*. As a certified interpreter it is your responsibility to
keep CPS informed of your current address at all times. DO NOT rely on the post office to forward
your mail.

*YOU MUST keep the Interpreter Program Staff of CPS informed by email or fax of any change in your mailing address
and telephone numbers once you become certified. Failure to recertify will result in the removal of
your name from the Master Listing of State Certified Interpreters, requiring that you retake and
pass the exam in order to be reinstated on the list.
