Introduction

These Interpreter Test Preparation Materials have been designed to help you prepare for the
State Personnel Board Administrative Hearing Interpreter or Medical Interpreter written and
oral examinations in Spanish. These materials will assist you in understanding the general
process of taking an examination. The materials will also provide you with sample tests for
both the Administrative Hearing and Medical Interpreter certifications. These sample
examinations will include all introductory information, as well as directions on how to
respond to each set of test items.

These Interpreter Test Preparation Materials are divided into eleven sections that will give
you information on the important aspects of these examinations. These sections are:

Note: The words test, exam, and examination are considered
to be synonymous throughout this guide, as are the words questions and items.
The term proctor refers to the person giving the test.
