This section is comprised of 20 questions.
Major knowledge, skill, and ability areas include:
- Knowledge of a broad range of English vocabulary on a multitude of topics
- Knowledge of agency-specific/specialized vocabulary
- Knowledge of correct spelling of words
- English Grammar and Word Usage
This section is comprised of 20 questions.
Major knowledge, skill, and ability areas include:
- Knowledge of punctuation and its effect on meaning
- Knowledge of rules of grammar
- Knowledge of correct spelling
- Skill in distinguishing between good and poor usage
- Skill in identifying incorrect punctuation
- Skill in identifying incorrect grammar
- Skill in identifying incorrect spelling
- English Reading Comprehension
This section is comprised of 15 questions.
Major knowledge, skill, and ability areas include:
- Knowledge of a broad range of English vocabulary on a multitude of topics
- Skill in eliminating options that contain information having no corollary in source text
- Skill in recognizing linguistic nuances
- Ability to identify parameters within text
- Ability to extract information from text
- Ability to scan for specific information
- Ability to read English
- English to Spanish Vocabulary Translation
This section is comprised of 15 questions.
Major knowledge, skill, and ability areas include:
- Knowledge of terms in the administrative
hearing setting and/or the medical setting in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of a broad range of vocabulary on a multitude of topics in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of correct spelling of words
